Assessment Methods:
The BSB 07 qualification has multiple evidence requirements for most units.

In-course assessment
The assessments have been planned to be conducted throughout the course to check the students learning progress. These may involve structured practical exercises and knowledge tests (Class Activity, Practical Demonstration, Role Play, Case Study, Written Quiz, Computer Based Activities, Take Home Assignment and Written Examination) that are clearly indicated to  candidates each week and on specific days of the workshop. The assessment tasks are identified in the unit assessment plans under the course time table. (See the course timetable which shows when a session contains an assessment event)
Students may complete assessment activities after  class hours and are asked to bring them to the next class for presentation or submission, feedback and marking.

Independent projects
The Students are required to demonstrate integration of their knowledge and skill through the independent projects. The assessments through independent projects allow candidates to apply real workplace scenarios and gather the additional evidence required for most units.

The independent project is a holistically assessed major integrated piece of work and it may be completed in the student’s workplace environment. This would allow students to apply their theory base to the real workplace environment. The students plans their project and discuss this with the teacher by the end of their final semester.

Support during the project
The candidates will access the Student Information System (SIS) online in order to view the learning/assessment activities and communicate with the trainer via e-mail.

Exit Points
If a participant exits from the course prior to the completion of the program, they will receive a Statement of Attainment for all units of competency satisfactorily completed up to that point of exit. Participants are welcome to re-enrol at a later date and complete the program.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is the acknowledgement of a person’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience, which may be used to grant status or credit in a subject, no matter how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from:
•   Previous non-formal study (including courses at school or college, through adult education classes or training programs at work);
•   Work experience (including both work that is paid and unpaid); and
•   Life experience (for example leisure pursuits or voluntary work).

RPL assesses the individual’s prior learning to determine the extent to which that individual is currently competent against the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion, a qualification.

How can prior learning be recognised?
There are many ways that you can show evidence of the competencies you hold. RPL/RCC can only be granted on current evidence, that is, work that has been completed within the last four years. The following are examples of ways that evidence can be provided. You should include a variety of these in your application form.

Education and training
•  Copies of certificates, qualifications achieved from other courses, school or tertiary results
• Statements outlining courses and/or study that you have undertaken and the learning outcomes/competencies achieved

Instructing experience
• Resume of experience
• Reports from people within your area
• Relevant work samples e.g. work projects/products.

Life experiences
Evidence of home/self directed study which may include a list of recent readings, synopsis of seminars attended, reports of own research/analysis undertaken.

Kent Institute of Business and Technology also will provide Direct Credit Transfer to students who can supply a relevant Statement of Attainment issued by another RTO under the AQTF. Please consult with student service manager on your enrolment for the RPL/RCC kit.
